The effect of instrument cable’s Individual screen & Collective screen
In the context of instrument cables, the terms "main screen" and "split screen" are used to describe two distinct levels of shielding. The functions of these components are as follows:
The term "total screen" is used to describe a cable with complete shielding. The term 'total screen' is used to describe the outer shielding layer of the entire cable. Its function is to protect the internal signals from external electromagnetic interference. The total shield is typically constructed from a conductive material, such as aluminium foil or copper foil, or it may take the form of a braided shield. The function of the total shield is to safeguard the signal transmitted along the entire length of the cable from external electromagnetic interference.
Split screen (split shielding): The term 'split screen' is used to describe the method of shielding a single conductor or multiple conductors within an instrument cable. A separate shielding layer is typically comprised of a shielding material wrapped around each conductor. This serves to prevent mutual interference between conductors and reduce signal crosstalk. The objective of sub-shielding is to safeguard individual signal lines from internal interference. The function of the main screen and split screen is to safeguard the signals inside the cable from external and internal interference, thus ensuring the stability and reliability of signal transmission. In some instrumentation and control systems that have high requirements for signal interference, the use of main screen and split screen cables can effectively enhance the anti-interference capability of the system.
